520: : a This interview was conducted as part of the New Jersey Historical Commission Grant-funded Multi-Ethnic Oral History Project. The interviewee is Mr. Ved Chaudhary who is from northern India. He came to the United States in 1965 to go to graduate school at Rutgers University. The interview describes his family, social customs and travels in India, but the primary focus is on the education system in India. The second half of the interview discusses life in the United States; and how he raised his family and maintained a job with Bell Laboratories. In his retirement Mr. Chaudhary is a strong advocate for Asian-American, more specifically Hindu-American, equality in politics, work environments, and society.
