DescriptionPresentation from the Conference, Etched in Memory, Legacy Planning for Artists, held at the Institute for Women & Art, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, March 20, 2009. Magda Salvesen talks about curation of the artist's estate, based on her work with the estate of her husband, John Schueler, as well as her book, Artists' Estates: Reputations in Trust. A key point is the selection of museums and archives that may be interested in the artist's work, for example museums that have hosted an exhibition of the artist's work. She makes the important concluding point: 'don't underestimate the emotion of relief, when you have got things organized."
